The Project

The HIV/AIDS, Human Rights and Law Project was established in 2004 by Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR)

Mission

To enable and cultivate a legal and human rights response to HIV and AIDS in Zimbabwe. The project seeks to use law and rights based programming in stemming the advance of the AIDS pandemic in Zimbabwean communities.

  • To promote and facilitate rights literacy on HIV and AIDS, human rights and law through training and public education.
  • To develop the competency of a network of lawyers willing and able to litigate  cases of HIV/AIDS and human rights at both national and international courts through training, networking and other capacity building initiatives.
  • To develop and facilitate a regime of lobby and advocacy around HIV/AIDS and human rights through a national HIV/AIDS  and Human Rights Charter, publications, position papers and other  tools/initiatives.
  • To advocate for the implementation of laws and policies that advance the rights of persons living with and affected by HIV/Aids through advocacy engagement with media, parliamentarians and policy makers.
