ANDREW MAKONI is the Chairperson of ZLHR. Andrew is a partner with Mbidzo, Makoni and Muchadehama Legal Practitioners. Andrew has actively participated in all initiatives at ZLHR and has been the most easily available senior lawyer to attend to harassment and arrest of human rights defenders. SARUDZAYI NJERERE is the Deputy Chairperson of ZLHR. Sarudzayi holds a degree in Bachelor Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Sarudzayi is a legal practitioner and partner with the law firm Honey and Blackenberg in Harare. SELBY HWACHA is a founding member of ZLHR and founding partner of Dube, Manikai & Hwacha Legal Practitioners. He has extensive experience in labour law, commercial law and has represented various human rights defenders and political party leaders. Selby has also handled several election petitions. He holds a law degree from the University of Zimbabwe. He is the Chair of the Finance and Administration Committee. JOSEPHAT TSHUMA is a senior legal practitioner, with Webb Low and Barry Legal Practitioners. He is the President of the Law Society of Zimbabwe and a member of the Human Rights Committee of the SADC Lawyers Association. He has represented several high profile human rights defenders and political activists in Zimbabwe. He was awarded the Human Rights Lawyer of the Year Award of 2004 in recognition of his work and dedication to human rights. TINOZIVA BERE is a senior partner with Bere Brothers Legal Practitioners in Mutare. He is the legal advisor of Africa University as well as a part-time lecturer on ethics, business law and company law. Tinoziva currently serves as Chairperson of the Mutare Legal Projects Centre, is a Councilor of the Law Society of Zimbabwe, heading the Committee on Legal Education, Advocacy and International Liaison. He is also a Councilor of the Commonwealth Lawyers’ Association. Tinoziva occupies other influential advisory roles with community groups, orphanages and churches in Manicaland. BEATRICE MTETWA is a senior legal practitioner, the President of the Law Society of Zimbabwe, and partner with Mtetwa and Nyambirai Legal Practitioners. She has been assaulted, harassed and threatened by the police on several occasions for her human rights work. She has represented several journalists and has a keen interest in freedom of expression and media rights. She recently received an award from the Committee to Project Journalists for her outstanding contribution to freedom of expression. JACOB MAFUME is a holder of a Bachelor of Laws Honours Degree from the University of Zimbabwe. He worked as professional assistant at Kantor and Immerman Legal Practitioners before joining the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum as litigation project lawyer. Jacob worked as the Coordinator for the National Association of Non Governmental Organisations in Zimbabwe and Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition. Jacob is currently an advisor on human rights, good governance and democracy with an international developmental agency. PRECIOUS CHAKASIKWA is a partner with Kantor and Immerman Legal Practitioners. Precious has litigated on women rights and represented women human rights defenders before the courts. She holds a Bachelor of Laws Honours degree from the University of Zimbabwe. REGINALD CHIDAWANYIKA is a partner with Chitere Chidawanyika Legal Practitioners in Gweru. Prior to election as a board member, Reginald provided secretarial services to ZLHR in the Midlands province and is now working with the Bulawayo ZLHR satellite office in furthering the activities of ZLHR. Reginald has represented many of the leading human rights defenders and political activists in the Midlands province and surrounding environs. Reginald holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Zimbabwe. HILLARY GARIKAYI is a senior partner with Garikayi and Co. Legal Practioners in Gweru. Hillary has represented many of the leading human rights defenders and political activists in the Midlands province and surrounding environs. Hillary holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Zimbabwe and he is currently studying towards his Masters degree. He holds a certficate in banking obtained from the Institute of Bankers of Zimbabwe (IOBZ) IRENE PETRAS is the Executive Director of ZLHR. She provides leadership in the organisation as a whole and leadership in the individual projects. Irene holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachalor of Laws degree from University of CapeTown and a Master of Laws Specialising in International Human Rights Law from the University of London. She is also a Lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe Faculty of Law in Human Rights and Public International Law. Irene sits on theboards of The Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum and Zimbabwe Election Support Network. DAVID HOFISI is a 3rd year law student with the University of Zimbabwe and a Commissioner with the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace. He has participated extensively in the academic field of debate, public speaking and HIV/AIDS quiz. He is a two-time National AIDS Quiz Champion and was awarded the Manicaland Provincial Speaker of the Year in 2000 and 2004. He has researched and co-authored reports and publications at ZLHR.
